7 Ways Buzzfeed Completely Rocked Our Student Office Tour

December 18, 2014 by

C/I students have done over 15 office tours this fall, but Buzzfeed officially stole our heart (and influenced the style of this blog post) during their awesome student tour on Monday, December 15th. Students from our C/I after school program at Discovery High School shared their favorite things about their trip below:

1. We received an incredible tour that got our students SO EXCITED about working at Buzzfeed one day.  They got to know how a cool tech media company works and how it takes a TON of people to make Buzzfeed a reality.  “I loved seeing all the code in the computers around the office, then realizing that I can do what they are doing.” – George, 15

2. Ben used an incredibly simple diagram to explain his complicated Program Manager role at Buzzfeed.  “It was definitely inspirational and I myself am going to make working at Buzzfeed a potential dream job.” – Laura, 14

3. Clem, one of Buzzfeed’s first employees and current Director of Engineering, explained why working at a tech startup is the most awesome thing you’ll ever do in your life.  “Buzzfeed was amazing, and I want to be an intern there one day so I can learn more.” – Ronaldo, 14

4. We got to meet people who work in all different departments, like Renee, who manages a team of quality assurance professionals for Buzzfeed.  “My favorite part of the Buzzfeed office tour was walking around the office and meeting all the employees because I got to learn new ways that people use coding.” – Miguelina, 15

5. Rob explained the important role that he plays on Buzzfeed’s IT team and…we also got a little off topic…  “We got to talk about cats and about how Minecraft is made with JavaScript.” – Laura, 14

6. We played ping pong, ate snacks, and posed for pictures with cool office toys and conference rooms named after cats.  “I love famous cats.” – Christian, 14

7. Buzzfeed employees made a huge impression on our C/I students from Discovery High School.  We can’t thank everyone enough for helping to make this office visit a reality, so we wrote you a holiday card! “I really enjoyed walking around Buzzfeed.  It felt like home since everyone works and has fun together.  All the employees that we met have different backgrounds and stories.  I also loved the snacks.” – Melanie, 15

Thanks so much for the tour, Buzzfeed!  Let’s hang out again soon!
