Athlete:  Andrew Osterday

Occupation: Global Manager, Digital Strategy & Content, Coca-Cola

Education: UNC – Chapel Hill

Hometown: Tucson, AZ

Current City: Atlanta, GA

Andrew learned about C/I and our mission from his friend and TeamInteractive teammate, Neil Bedwell. C/I is happy to have both of these great guys on our team!

Marathons, Training, Miles and Miles, Oh My!

The 2014 TCS New York City Marathon is Andrew’s first attempt at the 26.2mile distance. Andrew ♥’s NYC! It’s the best city in the world and  he is excited for the personal challenge of completing the distance and fundraising for C/I’s mission.

“I really believe in teaching kids hard technology skills. It has opened up so many doors for me and I know it will do the same for them.”

Andrew has always played soccer and has enjoyed casual running in his neighborhood to stay in shape. Remembering C/I students and the impact his commitment has on their educational opportunities keeps Andrew going during his long runs. Of marathon training,

“..this is another level of commitment and accomplishment. It’s something I swore I’d never do. And that motivation – to do the impossible, to be better than even I thought I could be – is a major driver. BIG thanks to the kids at C/I for inspiring me to greater heights!”

What advice do you have for C/I students on overcoming obstacles?

“Don’t have a victim’s mentality. People are going to tell you that you can’t make it, that you’ll fail. People will try to sabotage you, make things difficult, life won’t be fair. It’s easy to blame others, or circumstance. Don’t let life just happen to you. Visualize what you want, where you wan to be, and go get it!”

How will Andrew stay involved with C/I in the future?

Andrew plans to stay involved with C/I and TeamInteractive by introducing students to agencies and brands who want and need the skills they’ve learned from Code School. We are excited to have Andrew on our 2014 NYC Marathon team. We hope to welcome him back to NYC for more TeamInteractive races real soon!

Thank you Andrew for your support in educating the next generation of tech innovators!
