Tell us about yourself. How would you describe yourself?

My name is Malachi Kali Porcher.  I was born in the Bronx, but raised in Harlem.  I’m a very assiduous, dedicated and persistent individual. I never focus on my condition; I focus on my position and how I can empower myself to become a better person.

Where do you see yourself in five years? Where would you like to be in your career?

I am not very sure what exactly I would want to do as a career because of the many interest I have. However, the ideal place I see myself in 5 years is in a career would involve me helping people.  I love helping people and seeing the smile they give me after helping them.

What are your strengths?

I work great with others.  I listen and take feedback very well from others. In addiction, I like to put my heart and soul into any and everything I do.

What are your greatest weakness?

One of my greatest weaknesses is procrastination. I used to not do things in a timely fashion, but now I have become better at not putting things off to the last minute.

What is your best achievement? What was the most difficult task you accomplished?

My best achievement was getting my first college acceptance letter. This is something that not many from neighborhood and my family could say. It pleasures me to be on the road to success.  The most difficult task I accomplished was climbing a mountain in Ecuador.  It helped me realize that anything is possible if one puts their mind to it.

What is your greatest failure, and what did you learn from it? How did you handle it?

My biggest failure was failing my first major assignment in AP Bio. Failing helped me succeed in the long run because I realized that everyone, regardless of a person strengths, everyone has to willing to continue to work hard.

Why should a company hire you?

A company should hire me because I am a person who is willing and able to work through the difficult tasks. I am very thorough when given a task to do and I work well with others.

What is the one thing about yourself you’d most like to improve?

I want to improve on not giving up so fast. I tend to get frustrated when I don’t get things right away. However, I have gotten better at reevaluating myself and seeing where I went wrong.

What is your ideal tech company you would like to work for? Why?

I would like to work for Apple.  The company has had a great impact on the economy and most importantly the technological advances that this world has seen.  It would be awesome to say I was able to be a part of that.

Describe an event or experience that has changed the shape of your worldview.

Traveling to Ecuador and Korea has changed the way I view the world.  In Ecuador, I was able to see that people are not as fortunate as I might be and it helped me be aware of others; I also learned to be grateful for what I have.  From going to Korea, I learned how to respect different cultures and appreciate what that culture has to offer.
