My name is Stephan Green and I attend Democracy Prep Charter High School.
Tell us about yourself. How would you describe yourself?
I would describe myself to be helpful, determine and respectful. I’m helpful whenever help is needed. When my coding class was learning how to do HTML and CSS on Codecademy, I was the one who helping those who were struggling with HTML and CSS. I’m determined when trying to accomplish a goal. When going through HTML and CSS I was finished with the course on Codecademy in 3 weeks. Lastly, I am respectful.
Where do you see yourself in five years? Where would you like to be in your career?
In five years I hope to be on the path of becoming a doctor or an engineer in college. Also, I hope that the app that I have created during the tech incubator and presented at the NYTM will become a published app helping the community of bilingual people.
What are your strengths?
My strengths would be that I’m patient, focused and thoughtful towards others. I chose not to complain towards things that would annoy me, but to always respectfully talk things out.
What are your greatest weakness?
My greatest weakness is my speech problem. Talking to people in a group or one on one has never been my greatest strength. I would always stutter while talking so I would like to improve my speech and communication towards other people. This will be an important skill in college while I’m doing in class presentations and throughout my future success.
What is your best achievement? What was the most difficult task you accomplished?
I have achieved many things in my life. I won a scholarship to go to Korea thanks to my high grades in that class. Also, my hopes would be to get higher than a 90 on my regents test this year because my average for my regents is a 89 and I need a 90 to graduate with regents honors.
What challenges have you faced in learning how to code? What coding skills would you like to focus or improve on?
What do you hope to gain in Career/Interactive internship?
I hope to gain more experience through coding with a professional programmer. Learning through a computer is not as efficient as learning with a master even though to code you must know how to work with a computer. An internship will help me towards my goal to be a professional programmer.
If you would like to help Stephan Green and his C/I’s classmates learn more coding and get an internship, contact us at [email protected] or fill out the ‘Host’ form on the Career/Interactive page of our website.
