Code/Interactive’s AP CS Students Visited eBay NYC!

April 7, 2017 by

Code/Interactive’s AP Computer Science Principles students from Easton Area High School in PA traveled three hours to visit Ebay, NYC, where they learned about what it’s like to be a Software Engineer, Product Manager, or another professional in the technology industry.

One of the primary goals of the new AP Computer Science Principles course is to engage traditionally underrepresented students in Computer Science (CS). Therefore, for many of our students, this was their first year taking CS and their first experience meeting tech professionals.

Not sure about pursuing CS in the future? No problem. In breakout groups, our panelists encouraged students to think of creative ways to combine CS with their interests or pursue non-technical roles like marketing or product management if that was more appealing.

“I never considered a career in tech until today.” – C/I Student

Other students who had already decided to continue studying CS asked for advice about college CS programs and nontraditional routes to a software engineering career such as attending a bootcamp or learning independently through personal projects.

Thank you Ebay, NYC for sharing your time and knowledge with our Code/Interactive students!
