Code/Interactive’s HS of Sports Management Students Visited Jobspring Partners

December 14, 2016 by

Code/Interactive’s AP Computer Science Principles students from the High School of Sports Management visited Jobspring Partners, a company that specializes in placing IT professionals in hard to fill IT positions for leading Tech companies.

With the experience from working with such a wide range of tech companies and tech professionals, Jobspring recruiters taught our eager students about the various career opportunities that studying computer science will prepare them for, including different types of software engineering jobs (front-end, back-end, devops, etc).

The Jobspring professionals also shared that there are many other career options in the tech industry that aren’t focused on coding, including their own jobs as recruiters or event coordinators.

To round out our visit, our Code/Interactive students shared with our panelists that taking AP CS Principles has been an eye-opening experience: “When I saw on my schedule that I was taking computer science, I was pretty disappointed. But now this class with Mrs. Helal is my favorite of all my classes. It’s difficult sometimes, but I like figuring out how the internet works and building things.”

Donate to the December Code/Drive

A $50 donation will support a single student and a $500 gift will offset the cost of curriculum and teacher professional development. A $5,000 gift will support an entire school’s worth of students.
